St. Patrick's Day Contest !

Happy St. Patrick's Day !
In honor of today, I would like to have a little fun, so I am going to host a " GO GREEN" giveaway. I will send a "GREEN GROCERY BAG KIT" to the winner. The kit makes into a generous size bag, it will be quilted as shown, with lots of vegetables, and stars and will include the lining and the directions for you to sew it all together. Contents are not included as the food will probably be eaten by the time this contest is over ! All you have to do to enter is to leave a comment on this post with a good recycling or "going green" tip. If you mention this giveaway and include a link on your blog and if you comment back here, letting me know you have done this, you will be entered a second time. Contest will end at midnight, March 31, 2009 and the winner will be notified shortly thereafter. If you don't have a blog, be sure and leave me your email address, so I can get in touch with you if you win.
Good Luck, and I'm looking forward to all the GREEN tips !

I like to rinse out and re-use the bags that grapes come in at the grocery store. They have air-holes in them, so the fruits and veggies stay fresher in there longer, it seems to me. They are also good for small toys that the grandkids take to the beach (little cars, boats, play people) as they sand falls out on the way back to the car as the kids are carrying their baggies of toys with them. We always stow them safely while the kids are playing as we never want to risk any plastic getting into the water where it could harm the aquatic life there....and then they are ready to re-use on the way home.

Hi Beth - I want to enter! One going green thing I've done is change my dishwashing detergent and laundry detergent to the eco-friendly and phosphate free. I also use eco-friendly cleaning supplies. I find they work just as well! :) Amy

You always have such great ideas for your blog, Beth! While the rest of us are thinking green beer & green clothes, took it eco-green. Love it.

Eco-friendly...I guess I do the re-use thing the most. I 1/4 re-fill plastic bottles with water, freeze, and use to keep my beverage cold. Lately I've been scouting for good plastic containers for my clay work areas. I've even saved my B12 liquid dropper bottles for "drawing" slip onto pots. lol.

Great bag! The best way to recycle is to invite "friends" to buildings near certian little towns, because they are "green" with envy about what might be there. ;) Just kidding!! You know me, trash to treasure is my "green" treatment these days...keeps things out of the dump.

Lovely bag....great idea making it up as a kit! We do many things to be green. We've switched lightbulbs in the fixtures we use most often to the curly bulbs; we have a garden and can/freeze it's produce; we set aside any metal 'junk' cans etc, to sell back to a recycling plant. Food scraps go to the chickens, we use paper to start our fires...I must have the best sorted garbage in town LOL!

Woo-hooo - I'm officially in Beth! It worked!
Cheers!
Oh - we now use Charlie's Soap, http://www.charliesoap.com/ in the laundry - it has nothing that can harm anything, takes only one tablespoon of soap per load - and you don't need to soften your clothes either! That's our latest "go-green" accomplishment!

I love this bag! It will be perfect for taking to the Farmer's Market this summer. That is one of the things I do to live "green" - take my own bags to the grocery store and Farmer's markets. I also wash in cold water, use low wattage bulbs, stopped using hairspray and most other aerosol sprays.

Cute bag! One of my favorite "green" things to do is to pack my lunch in a reusable container that I can just wash out at the end of the day instead of throwing away a brown paper sack or a bunch of packaging from prepackaged meals.

Let's see, check out my blog for the recycled blue jeans horse I made that I named 'Donkey' from Shrek. My family makes fun of alot of the things I do, BUT...I reuse plastic containers and the foam cups from Sonic to start my seeds in, I take plastic bags back to the store for reuse, I love going top garage sales, my husband says I hang on to alot screaming 'but I can make something with that...lol

I re-use all our old banana peels in my gardens - I put them by the roses and the tomatoes buried a few inches in the ground. I also use coffee grounds (from our pot and from Starbucks) to add nitrogen to our soil and increase its drainage. I'll put a link on my blog, too.

Great bag and I'd love to add it to the bags I use for groceries and farmer's market buys! I'm trying to do more recycling and not using plastics.

I bring my own bags to the grocery store, make my own cleaners -especially environmentally friendly ones, and I quit buying stuff we don't need. Thanks for hosting. Love the bag.
